This article deals with the first steps of the Greek Estudiantinas, mainly based on two crucial primary sources: the historical discography and the historical press. Apart from these, references are made both to biographies of protagonists and to Greek literature and other bibliographical sources. Based on the above, the centres of action of the Estudiantinas seem to have been Smyrna, Constantinople and Athens, to which the dynamics from the other side of the Aegean were basically transferred after the Asia Minor Catastrophe.
